To start, I chose to show these two 1/1's from 2010-11 ITG Between The Pipes. The Game-Used cards from this set looked amazing that year in my opinion, and having already acquired quite a few parallels, Show Stamps, and Final Vault cards from this same Game-Used set for my PC (as of this blog post I have 22 in total), these 1/1's were a welcome addition to the collection. I just need to track down the Enroth 10-11 ITG BTP Game-Used Number Silver /3 to complete the original rainbow for this BTP set. The Number Gold 1/1 and Emblem Gold 1/1 are both great cards. The Emblem 1/1 features a skull and crossbones patch from Enroth's Portland Pirates (AHL) jersey from the 2008-2009 season. Definitely one of the most unique patches in my entire collection right now. In terms of 'coolness', I don't think it will ever be beat. I remember that skull and crossbones patch floating around back when 10-11 BTP was first released, I just didn't know it had settled in Craig's collection until now. I was stoked to say the least. Moving on and keeping with the AHL and Between The Pipes theme.... For those that already follow my PC updates on the various hobby sites, this will be old news for you. I figured that since I have started up this blog a few nights ago, a blog post featuring these 4 cards was appropriate. :) 2 weeks ago I received 4 new 1/1's for my Jhonas Enroth collection that are true white whales in every sense of the term. I made a deal with Craig, a former Enroth collector on SportsCardForum. Craig was a huge collector of Enroth's cards for many years, and his collection, especially from 2009-10 (Enroth's rookie card year), was beyond extraordinary. When he made them availible to me, I knew I just had to try and make a deal. Craig has always been great to deal with in the past, and I've made many, many deals with him for Enroth stuff here and there. He handled each deal with so much class and his prices are always more than fair. Thank you Craig! About a week previous to the big 1/1 deal, I had also made a deal with Craig to acquire 15 cards from Enroth's rookie card year to fill some much-needed holes in my PC from that year. Craig had a lot of rarer stuff that had eluded me for years. After we made that 15-card deal, we then made the quick deal for these 4 1/1's he had as well. So lets show off some of these cards, shall we? BOOM! 2010-11 Between The Pipes AHL Complete Logo 1/1 ! Again, another card that ended up in Craig's collection without my knowledge. Crazy how cards you think have disappeared forever can pop up out of nowhere when you least expect it. That was this entire 4-card deal in a nutshell. Looking at this card, I really love the design and look of this card. Whether it's been a CHL or AHL logo, these Complete Logo cards from BTP have always been one of my favourite memorabilia cards for many years, and to have finally obtained one was very cool. Not to mention as part of my own Enroth PC... Awesome! Now for the big one... Is there really much to say about this card? It's The Cup Black 1/1. Arguably the most sought after rookie-year card for any Player Collector. To have locked this one down for the collection is a pretty good feeling, not to mention great card to look at. 09-10 The Cup had a nice clean look to the cards, and that accompanied by the dark black foil used on these cards make it look really good I think.
I'm not sure if other rare Cup cards have this, but even the card stock used on this card has been turned black, meaning the middle of the card shines black when you look at it from the side. On the 2009-10 Enroth Rookie Gold /25, the card stock there has been partially turned gold on those cards. Great attention to detail by Upper Deck on these cards. Anyways, if you've made it this far, thank you. I hope that you've enjoyed this little breakdown on 4 of my most recent 1/1's for my Enroth collection. By my count, I now have 28 1/1 cards in this collection. Maybe I can hit 30 soon? Only time will tell.
