New cardboard content alert! Okay, so I decided to add this new Card of The Week category on this blog to get some fresh eyes on some cards I haven't mentioned in awhile, give you some detail on how I picked them up, and maybe some other reasons why I liked or disliked that particular piece of cardboard. I may try for a weekly write up, but for now we'll just take things slow and see were things take us. If you haven't already, you can bookmark this site, connect with me on any of the hobby community forums I am apart of, or just follow me on social media. But you probably knew that already..
This first entry in this new Card of The Week theme comes from a product WAAAAAAAAAY back in 2006-07, simply called: "Hockey Allsvenskan".
The card itself features Enroth pictured with Sodertalje SK's 1st Division squad at the time. It was Enroth's first-ever hockey card that was issued in a product.
When I first bought this card, it felt really cool owning something that was released over in Europe (still feels cool today. Just look at my recent KHL additions and you'll know)! For some collectors, it might not seem like a big deal, but I've always loved seeing cards come out of Europe. The fresh new take on designs, divisions, team names, jersey colours or swatches, etc, etc. It just all adds up to something that a set from North America can't bring for me at times and it definitely pulls me in.
This Swedish base card was a easy eBay purchase back in .... 2010? But I was also very lucky to snag an autographed copy this year with the help of a collector in Sweden (Thanks again, Alex!).
So here's the base card in all its glory to cap off week 1 Card of The Week!
