With all the hype about President's Choice Trading Cards' newest "Vezina Collection" boxed product set to be released soon (we will be speaking with Dr. Brian Price about this on our podcast), I decided it was finally time to add a card of Georges Vezina into my goalie card collection.
No, it's not a 1911 C55 rookie card, but this card is something special in it's own way.
I decided to pull the trigger on this Blue Bordered parallel card of NHL goaltending legend Georges Vezina from the 2008-09 Upper Deck Masterpieces collection, numbered 2 of 50.
This is my very first card of Georges Vezina, otherwise known as the "Chicoutimi Cucumber".
I decided on this card because I've also wanted to add a card from the original Upper Deck Masterpieces product for a long time now, so this sort of checked off both boxes for me.
The artistic depictions of these players used for the creation of this set is beyond stunning, not to mention the attention to detail around the image itself (the text, foil, etc), it looks like something you'd see hanging in an art gallery. I know there is at least one more border coloured parallel for this base set, so we'll see if I can snag that one day to add to this mini collection, but for now it will sit nicely among my other random cards in my goalie collection.
If you have some time today, I highly suggest you type in "Upper Deck Masterpieces" into your eBay search bar and scroll through these magnificant cards.
