Another day, another package in the mail. While I would normally expect a card in the mail, today was a little different.
Waiting in the mail box today was a unique item for my collection, as I was able to recently track down a official NHL Roster Sheet which documents a game between the Dallas Stars and the Anaheim Ducks in 2015.
A few weeks before the 2014-15 NHL trade deadline, Buffalo dealt Enroth to the Dallas Stars where he wrapped up the season. During his short stint in Dallas, Enroth finished with an even 5 wins and 5 losses, including a key shutout win (the 5th of his NHL career). This NHL roster sheet I added this week was from that very shutout win on April 8th, 2015.
For those who don't know, due to NHL rules, these roster sheets are required to be filled out with their starting lineup (the starting roster players have their numbers circled on the sheet) and signed by each coach prior to the start of every game. These sheets are signed by Lindy Ruff (Dallas) and Bruce Boudreau (Anaheim).
The Home coach has the advantage of knowing which lineup the Away team will be starting to begin that game, since the Away team needs to submit their roster sheet before warm-ups. I think this little tidbit of information further cements the fact that in professional sports, every possible piece of information can be utilized in order to win at the highest level. Pretty cool stuff.
I've included scans of the roster sheets for each team that night, along with the COA that was included with these pieces. Enjoy!
