Say it ain't so, Jho?
According to various Swedish media outlets, Jhonas Enroth could be making a return to the SHL with Örebro next season. After competing in 10 regular games with Örebro last season and helping them make the playoffs (An additional 2 games played), Enroth returned to the KHL this season with Dinamo Minsk on a 1-year contract, which marks his 3rd season in the KHL with the club in 2019-20. I found out that this potential return to the SHL would be a long-term contract for Enroth who is no doubt looking to settle down at home in Sweden. I'm not shocked by the return, as many players eventually like to settle down after playing in the NHL and working on their craft in other European countries for so many years. So personally, I understand the return to the SHL completely and I wish Jhonas nothing but the best moving forward. I'm still going to follow his starts and stream games when I can to watch him play. On the card front, however, it looks like this could be the end (or narrowing) of the road for a continuous supply of cards every season, as the SHL hasn't had an official trading card manufacterer since 2014/2015 I beleive. That could change in the future, but only time will tell if I'll be able to pickup anymore Swedish SHL cards in the future. The collection isn't done by a longshot, if that's what you were thinking. I still have a blast picking up new cards and will continue to do so, just maybe not at the rate I have been going the past few seasons with these yearly KHL cards. Since these hockey rumours have been floating around, you better beleive I'm going to cherish every new addition moving forward since the KHL 2019-20 hockey card products are on the horizon. Like any other year, I don't know what I'll be able to acquire, but I'm going to enjoy it. Even if/when Enroth does move back to the SHL, I still fully expect KHL cards next season for Enroth in 20-21, since SeReal (The main KHL card manufacterer) does occassionally include former KHLrs in their insert and memorabilia sets, which will be exciting cards to add as well.
