12-13 Certified Fabric Of The Game Emerald Patch 4/5 - Jhonas Enroth
Another card of the week blog post!
Have you ever had a select few cards on your wantlist that take forever to surface? You know the ones. No matter how long you search online or watch other collectors box breaks, the card you're after to never seems to surface. Not a copy that you lost out on, not another that is locked away in a PC. I mean, it's the cards that you begin to question the existence of even when you know it's out there but haven't even seen a picture of. For me, this Emerald patch from 12-13 Certified was one of those cards.
After searching high and low for the Enroth Fabric Of The Game Emerald Patch /5 from 12-13 Panini Certified, I all but gave up looking. (Okay, I didn't give up looking, but I need to add some dramatics into this blog, right? right).
Then it happened. Late 2017, I was quickly reminded about you never really know what's sitting around in those older boxes until you crack them open. I also am a firm believer in getting your name out there in the collecting "world" as someone who collects "x,y, and x", because you never know who is going to pull something you need, and if you're on the top of their mind when they do pull it, you know you've done a good job.
I was scrolling around SportsCardForum as I normally do, and I was suddenly greeted with a friendly message from another collector who had just opened up a box of 12-13 Certified. You can guess where this is going...
Yes, he had pulled the infamous Enroth FOTG Emerald Patch card /5 that I had been looking to add for quite sometime. I really like the look and shine from those Emerald patch cards from Certified that year, and getting one for my collection of one of my favourite goalies ever was straight up awesome.
After I had saw they had the card, we quickly made a deal for it and it arrived soon after that. The seller of this card was happy to help my collection and made this deal effortless. Overall, it was a really nice story for my collection (They are mostly cards, yes - but the stories that go along with them are just as cool for me) and another reminder to be patient when looking for those older cards from a few years back that might still be sitting in a dusty box on the clearance shelf.
Don't worry, it will be added to your PC one of these days. Keep your eyes peeled.
Speaking of which, my quest is not over yet. I STILL need the 12-13 Panini Certified Fabric Of The Game Black Mirror Tag 1/1 of Jhonas Enroth to complete this 6-card rainbow from that year. So if you happen to find one in your travels, please let me know.
Different goalie of course, but the card will look like this guy:
