Fair Play & Respekt Swedish Playing Cards - Front and Back Images

I was lucky enough to add this signed playing card into the Enroth collection to start the month. For those who aren't aware, this newer Swedish playing card set was created as a follow-up set to the 2006 Fair Play & Respekt set.

​The release year of this update set is fuzzy, but judging by the newest player photographs depicted on the card are from no later than 2012, that is a solid starting point. However, while researching this set, I found a PDF of the checklist with all of the card images, which might not mean much, but it's something. Digging a little deeper into the origins of this PDF file, I found that the file originally created in 2012. Using the above information, I can confidently put the release year of this updated Swedish playing card set in the year 2012.

These two Swedish playing card sets were released by the Swedish Ice Hockey Federation (Svenska Ishockeyförbundet) in order to promote fair play and respect amongst team members and opponents when playing hockey. Each card has a unique Q&A trivia question with various hockey-related scenarios a player may face.

While the earlier card set released in 2006 was a strictly physical release, I believe this update set had a smaller quantity of physical sets produced. This assumed shortened production run was due to the update set also relying on a digital component of distribution, which provided federation members with digital card proofs of the playing card fronts so it can be printed and then distributed independently. This additional distribution model potentially lessened the need to print as many physical set of playing cards.

Strictly anecdotal evidence at this point, but while looking into these Fair Play card sets a little further, I have seen much more of the 2006 set than the 2012 set, which guides the assumption that one set was printed more than the other.

These playing card decks included various Swedish national team players from the Men's and Women's teams. The checklist is located below for the newer update set this new addition is from.

As a collector who also collects IP/TTM (In Person or Through The Mail) signed cards within this collection, I didn't think I'd find a signed copy of such a obscure and rare card. Double bonus!
