It's been awhile since I've added anything to my Marc-Andre Fleury collection, but today I was really excited to add this sweet 2003-04 Topps C55 Miniature card to the collection tonight. For those who don't know, these mini cards were made to pay tribute to the 1910-1913 hockey card set manufactered by Imperial Tobacco Canada. These original cards in the early 1900's were inserted in packs of cigarettes, and are largely recognized as the first hockey cards ever produced for a public release. Pretty cool stuff, yeah? Below is one of the original C55 cards (Georges Vezina #38) manufactered by Imperial Tobacco in 1911: *(Note: I do NOT own this card. I am simply using it as an example)* While I could never afford the card pictured above, I've always wanted to at least own one of the Topps tribute cards for my collection. Seeing as how Marc-Andre Fleury is one of my PC's, I think this was a very fitting add to the collection with a fun story to tell. And who knows, maybe I'll grab a raw copy of someone from the original 36-card C55 set one of these days.
