2012-2013 ITG Superlative Past Present Future - Hasek/Miller/Enroth - Silver Version 4/9 (Left) & Gold Version 1/1 (Right).Today I received not one, but two whales for the Enroth collection. These two ITG Superlative cards have been on my want list now for what seems like forever, until earlier today that is.
I can't say that these cards are true "white" whales, as I've known where both of these cards have been all this time, located deep inside another Enroth collector's collection for many years now. Whatever the animal analogy you'd like to attach to these cards, they are both HUGE additions to my collection. This collector finally opened his Enroth vault and made them availible to me after all these years (Along with these beauties in 2018). I originally just wanted the Silver Version #/9 to fill in a gap in my collection (As I feel 1/1's to me are a nice little bonus), plus I know this collector used to collect Hasek & Miller, so I wanted to be respectful and let them keep whatever cards they wanted to hold onto, but this collector went above and beyond by offering both cards up for sale. Isn't it great when stories end with such great hobby generosity? Thanks again for the cards, Kyle. Since receiving these two cards, I have taken off the ITG branded stickers to free these cards from their toploader prisons (...gasp!). While I know a few traditional collectors may have my head for that haha, I'm cool with it. These cards are here to stay and I'd rather store them how I'd like instead of the original toploaders these ITG Superlative cards were stored in pack-out. As much as I am thrilled to add these two monster cards, I am always on the hunt for more. With these lovely additions to the collection, my Jhonas Enroth card collection count has now reached a whopping 87% completion, which is insane to me. Never thought I'd ever make it this far. Although when doing the math, I'd probably be at about 90% if I didn't include those pesky Artist Proof/Error cards to the Want List that I'll most likely never find - I'm still okay with that. I like having a complete list of cards I know are out there, even if it 'hurts' my completion numbers a bit, it's all in good fun at the end of the day and keeps me hunting down more cards. Though not on my complete Want List because of the inability to track the accuracy of ITG Vault stamped memorabilia cards, I do know these 12-13 Superlative Past, Present and Future Dominik Hasek/ Ryan Miller/ Jhonas Enroth Triple Memorabilia cards do have 2015 ITG Superlative Vault-stamped parallels as well (And even Show Stamped Expo variations as well, but I've never seen one for sale yet). I've seen a Superlative Vault stamped Silver Version /9 (Green Stamped 1/1) in a Buffalo Sabres collection. So here's hoping I can track one down a stamped copy one of these days. I really liked adding a stamped version of a card wherever possible, as I feel like it adds a little more history and variety to a collection. I hope everyone has a great rest of the week. As always, thank you for taking the time to read my blog. Happy Collecting!
