A 40 Win Club set addition & A "New" Cup RPA Highlights this mail day!

Happy mail day, my fellow collectors! Aside from one big card I'll be saving for my next blog post, there were two cards that arrived in my mail box today (what a happy sight that always is!) that crosses cards of the list for not one, but two areas of my collection. 

First up is the Luongo Upper Deck 40 Win Club jersey card #85/99. This card was one of the first 40 Win Club cards that debut within 18-19 SP Game Used last year, so to snag a first year card is always a bonus when going for an ongoing set like this. 

​As for the second card in this mail post, I picked up my 4th copy of the 2009-10 Upper Deck The Cup Rookie Patch Autograph of Jhonas Enroth, numbered 098/249. While this is a duplicate card in my collection, this piece features a jersey patch from the modern Sabres jersey's of the 2009-10 season.

Old Buffalo Sabres Jersey type that was primarily used in the construction of Enroth's RPA jersey patches.

The "New" Buffalo Sabres Jersey used at the time for only a small number of these Enroth 2009-10 Cup RPA cards.

Here's a look at my current Enroth Cup RPA collection (4). As you can see the older Sabres patches are much more prevalent than the modern Sabres jersey's from that time. 

From my many years of seeing Enroth's Cup RPA cards since 2010, I've speculated that there are only about 20-25 copies of Enroth's Cup RPA featuring the newer Sabres patches (honestly, there might even be less than that), making a card with the modern jersey much more "rarer" than the others. 

While going after patch variations of any kind isn't something I initially planned to do with this collection, finding this was a great piece for my collection. I remember wanting to acquire one for my collection many years ago, but either couldn't find a copy or didn't see that value of picking up two of the "same" card at the time. I have come to appreciate each card and their slight differences over time, creating a deeper, well-rounded out collection in my eyes. 

Do you collect patch/jersey variations? Or are you just content with a single copy of a card?
